Here are some pics from the 2009 Canadian Jewish Book Awards, which were given out in Toronto on May 25th downtown. You'll find some interesting people here, such as juror Cynthia Good, former President and Publisher of Penguin Canada, now Director of the Creative Book Publishing Program at Humber College, me and my fabu publicist Emma Rodgers, the beautiful blonde, fellow SSP author and award winner, Kathy Kacer, and Joseph Kertes, author of the compelling novel, Gratitude, winner of the Yad Vashem Award, among other highlights. Ah, yes, the limelight.
Tis a wonderful thing in which to bask,
A light like this is never too much
to ask,
Particularly when one is up to the task,
To impart words of wisdom to a crowd unmasked.
Wisdomly words you know how to impart,
Across a darkened room a story you chart,
Invisible faces are loathe to depart,
Before you have spoken the words in your heart.
With lights repowered you are completely seen,
As you and the guests partake in caffiene,
You chat, and glow and exude a sheen,
When you talk of creating The White Space Between.
