Warm up winter by attending the kick-off to the Jewish Public Library's Afternoon Book Review Series on March 7th. I will be leading a talk and discussion about the wonderful debut novel, The Twelve Tribes of Hattie, by Brooklyn-based author, Ayana Mathis.
Set against the background of The Great Migration, when six-million African-Americans journeyed north to escape the terrible hardships of the Jim Crow South, this epic novel tells the story of Hattie Shephard, who boards a train from Georgia to Philadelphia with her family in the hopes of realizing the American dream. A well-deserved Oprah Book Club pick and much buzzed about novel.
